Shoe Re-do

I found these shoes for 4 bucks at Target and had been wanting to attempt a shoe makeover so decided to grab them.
First I took the flowers off the shoes with some scissors.
Then I filled the insides with newspaper.
And spray painted them with gray paint.
I probably would've left them like this, but I had the spots showing through the paint where I removed the flowers, so decided to add some rosettes I made.  Here's the final version:
What do you think?  Were they cuter before, or are they better after?  Have you done a shoe re-do?  I would love to hear about it!

  6. They were cute before but now they're fabulous! Love the rosettes. I've never painted shoes...does the paint rub or wear off easily?

  32. Katie, I remember seeing those shoes at Target earlier this week! I just love the way you transformed them from ho-hum to totally mod chic! 35. On Dressing Your Truth there are ladies who have spray painted shoes and purses successfully. They key is that they can't be leather. The synthetic ones hold up much better. Leather will chip. I have shoes put aside that I plan to paint.

  38. i saw those shoes on sale for like $4.50 but was a bit wishy washy about the color which is why i didn't get them. too bad i didn't see your potential in them.

  39. That is such a cute idea! Did you just spray them with regular spray paint or the plastic-specific stuff? This has me curious!

Thanks for linking with air your laundry Friday!

  41. ummm, won't the spray paint flake off? I prefer the originals. I also saw them at Target and thought it was pretty cute. You should have left it in a color that won't crack after the first time you wear it. sorry.
